Placerville has the most unique and diverse shopping district in the area, woven amongst businesses that date back over 100 years such as Placerville Hardware (the oldest hardware store west of the Mississippi), Placerville News, Combellack's, Randolph Jewelers and the Cary House.

In addition, you will find an delightful selection of other shops—everything from Army Surplus to wedding Dresses, as well as Olive Oil, Cheese & Gelato. And, if you are a crafter, we have it all from Rubber Stamping to Knitting and everything in between.
Placerville has a great selection of unique, independent restaurants up and down Main street and there truly is something for everyone: everything from the best Hamburger in El Dorado County at Old Town Grill to an elegant sit-down dinner at Cafe Luna.
Did you know that Thomas Kinkade was from Placerville and that the original Kinkade Gallery is on Main Street? They have the largest selection of Kinkade art on the West Coast. Come see where it all started!
